West Michigan Company’s Lettuce and Salad Leaves Now Available at Meijer Stores Across the Midwest

GRAND RAPIDS, MI — A Caledonia-based farm says its lettuce and salad greens are now sold at 262 Meijer stores across Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky and Wisconsin.

Revolution Farms grows its produce in a three-acre greenhouse in Caledonia and says it’s grown using less water and land than other farms that grow lettuce and salad greens.

“Supporting local farms and providing the freshest, most nutritious ingredients is important to us and to our customers,” Meijer Product Buyer Sarah Jennings said in a press release. “As a Michigan family business, we are committed to being good stewards of our community by not only constantly improving our own sustainable practices, but also using our shelves as a platform to promote brands that share our passion. “

Revolution Farms was founded in 2018 by four friends: Tripp Frey, John Green, Chip George and Brian Steketee. Frey, a Grand Rapids native who has already spent nearly a decade in Hood River, Oregon running a small outdoor apparel company, served as the company’s first CEO. Frey and Steketee are no longer with the company.

“Food tastes better when it’s grown near you. Meijer is our local retail partner, so partnering with them to expand their selection of local greens, as well as growing lettuce for their salad kits, will help more families easily find sustainably grown greens. sustainable and nutrient-rich,” John Green, Founder and CEO of Revolution Farms, said in a press release. “Our recent greenhouse expansion has given us the opportunity to grow even more varieties of lettuce, as well as becoming a partner of Meijer Fresh.”

Erin Cataldo, spokesperson for Revolution Farms, said Meijer began offering Revolution Farms products in late March.

Previously, farm lettuce was available at Michigan Meijer stores under the Edible Garden brand.
