Ex-employee shoots Michigan business owner in parking lot, police say


RIVERVIEW, MI – A business owner was reportedly shot dead by a former employee in a parking lot on Thursday, April 14 in southeast Michigan, WDIV Local 4 reports.

Riverview police responded to a report around 6:09 p.m. Thursday of shots being fired in the 11000 block of Longsdorf Avenue. They discovered the business owner shot dead in the parking lot. Employees told police Nathan Scott Bottrell, 32, of Riverview, shot the owner and then fled on his bicycle, the report said. The victim was taken to hospital for treatment.

Authorities contacted Bottrell at his apartment and convinced him to turn himself in, according to the report. He was taken into custody.

Bottrell is charged with aggravated assault with intent to commit murder, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm less than murder, felony assault and three felony firearm offences. He is being held in Wayne County Jail on $150,000 cash bond. If released, he must wear a GPS tether.
