How do you choose the right dishwasher for your needs?

Choosing the right dishwasher will require us to answer the question what needs we have when it comes to washing, as well as review the specifications of individual equipment.

The purchase should be well thought out so that the dishwasher was functional in everyday use and economical. As a rule, better quality equipment will be slightly more expensive, but such an investment will definitely come back gradually. Lower water and electricity consumption means real savings for the household.

Freestanding dishwasher or built-in?

On the market you will find freestanding and built-in dishwashers. Although the principle of their operation is identical, they may differ slightly in size and position. Freestanding dishwashers are more versatile and can be set up virtually anywhere in the kitchen.

The only condition is the presence of a water connection and the possibility of its outflow. Built-in dishwashers are bought with a specific place in mind. It happens that they have unusual sizes and their front should be adjusted to kitchen furniture. Very often built-in dishwashers are slightly more expensive than freestanding ones. This is due to the possibility of adapting the equipment to your needs and a more attractive appearance.

Energy classes and washing classes

Energy classes and washing classes

The energy class of dishwashers can be determined in two ways. When deciding to buy a new dishwasher, we will certainly find information on electricity consumption for one standard washing cycle and approximate annual consumption in kW / h. Another common term is the use of letter symbols.

The scale usually ranges from A to G, where A means the greatest saving and G the highest power consumption. There is also a plus symbol on the market, which indicates additional energy efficiency. Dishwashers with the best parameters will therefore be marked with the symbol A +++.

Another parameter that provides information about individual devices is the washing class. It talks about the effects that can be obtained by using individual dishwashers. As with the energy class, letter symbols are used here. And it means fully efficient cleaning and removal of even dried dirt during one washing cycle. The next symbols will mean slightly worse parameters.

How much water do the dishwashers use?

How much water do the dishwashers use?

One of the most important parameters of dishwashers, which usually buyers are most interested in, is the level of water consumption. Each appliance should have a label with information on the average water consumption calculated on the basis of the standard dishwashing cycle.

This parameter is largely influenced by the dishwasher capacity. However, the average water consumption usually ranges from 6 to 12 liters. As you can see, even the least economical dishwashers consume much less water than we lose when washing dishes manually.

It is estimated that during one traditional washing, we use up to 20 liters of water, which significantly increases water bills. On the other hand, excessive water consumption has a negative impact on the environment.
